Overview of The Gospel of John:
The Gospel of John is written by one of Jesus Christ’s disciples, John, the son of Zebedee. This Gospel is 21 Chapters long. John is described as the “Disciple of Whom Jesus loved”. It has been determined by biblical scholars that John wrote The Gospel of John (also known as “According to John”).
It was written around A.D. 80-90, about 50 years after he witnesses Jesus’ earthly ministry under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and as an eyewitness in composing the gospel. He is not John the Baptist. However, in this book, John the Baptist is discussed.
The Gospel of John explains who Jesus Christ is before creation. It establishes his deity as Creator of the World, The Father (I AM), and is the long-awaited Messiah, the Son of God in the flesh.
Its purpose is to explain that even though Jesus is the Creator and God (I AM), believers are to understand that Jesus is the Son of God that came in the flesh and yet while we were sinners, died for our sins and rose again to become Savior of the World-reconnecting us to God. That is why we pray to the father in Jesus Christ’s name.
Defeating death and sin by the shedding of his blood and life, Jesus gives the gift of everlasting life with repentance. That by believing you may have life in his name (20:31) John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
God is omnipresent meaning he can be in more than one place at the same time. He can be on earth (flesh) and in heaven (spirit) at the same time.
Revelation 19:6 “And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thundering, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.”
Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son, is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

Summary of The Gospel of John Chapter 20.
This chapter tells of the events that led to Jesus being discovered as risen from the dead. In addition, Jesus proved to the disciples and the unbelieving disciple Thomas that he is real. Jesus gave proof of his resurrection by giving the disciples the Holy Ghost with his breathe.
In conclusion, the reason John wrote down the miracles Jesus performed was so that others will believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you might have life through his name.
Note: Previously, Jesus told the disciples, he would pray to the father to send the disciples the Holy Spirit. After the resurrection, Jesus gave the disciples the Holy Spirit Himself, showing a transformation in power. John 14:26 KJV “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
In the beginning of this chapter, Mary Magdalene found the sepulcher empty with two angels sitting in the tomb (sepulcher). As she wept, Jesus appeared to her. He gave her a message to give to the disciples. Mary left and got the other disciples to came and witness the tomb was empty.
Later that evening, Jesus appeared to the disciples. He showed them he had risen from the dead. He ate with them. His hands had holes in them from the nails on the cross.
John 20: 30 31There were many other signs did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: John 20: 31 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Reflection and Discussion
“Can you think of a time when a situation in your life seemed hopeless—like a broken relationship, failed grades, a tough job search, or finding a place to live—and you prayed then a surprising solution appeared?
Jesus Christ rose from the dead so that we might have life abundantly, free from worry and protected from enemies. Psalms 46:1: ‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.'”

Chapter Highlights of Gospel of John- Chapter Twenty (KJV)
Chapter Highlights of Gospel of John Chapter Twenty (KJV): Answers to Objectives and Activity-Questions.
1. How it was discovered that Jesus Christ rose from the grave on Sunday (Hebrew First Day of the week). Easter Sunday in the United States celebrates the risen Christ, signifying the completed work on the cross.
1The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulcher, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulcher.
2Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulcher, and we know not where they have laid him.
3Peter, therefore, went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulcher.
4So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulcher.
5And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in.
6Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulcher, and see the linen clothes lie,
7And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by
8Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulcher, and he saw and believed.
9For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.
10Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.
11But Mary stood without at the sepulcher weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,
12And see two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
13And they say unto her, Woman, why weep thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.
14And when she had thus said, she turned herself back and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.
15Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weep thou? whom seek thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
16Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
17Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
18Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord and that he had spoken these things unto her.
2. How Jesus Christ proved he rose from the grave.
19Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
20And when he had so said, he showed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.
21Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so, send I you.
22And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
23Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
24But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
25The other disciples, therefore, said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
3. How Jesus dispelled the unbelief in a disciple, Thomas.
26And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
27Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
29Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
4. The objectives of Johns Gospel
30And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
5. Prophesy fulfilled. No bone will be broken and they shall look upon him and there they laid (buried) him.
32Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
33But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
34But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
35And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
36For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
37And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
38And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
39And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
40Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
41Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.
42There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
