Daily Word: Dreams: They Do Not Come With Expiration Dates
Dreams and hopes are a gift from God, and the Bible tells us that God’s promises never expire. While we may face setbacks and feel as though our dreams have passed us by, the Word of God reminds us that there is no expiration date on the dreams God has placed in our hearts.
2 Corinthians 9:8 KJV assures us that “God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.” This verse reminds us that no matter our age or circumstances, God’s grace is sufficient for us to fulfill His purposes.
Throughout the Bible, we see that miracles do not have an age limit, and God’s promises remain true even in our later years. The story of Abraham and Sarah is a powerful example of God’s timing and faithfulness. When they were well beyond childbearing age, God promised them a son.
Despite their doubts, God delivered on His promise, and Isaac was born when Abraham was 100 years old, and Sarah was 90. Their story shows that God’s promises are not bound by age, and neither are ours.
Examples of People in the Bible Who Experienced Miracles in Old Age:
Abraham and Sarah (Genesis 18:10-14 KJV): Abraham and Sarah received a miraculous promise from God when they were in their old age. At 100 years old, Abraham became the father of Isaac, and Sarah, at 90, became the mother. Their story teaches us that with God, nothing is impossible, and there is no expiration date on His promises.
Moses (Exodus 7:7, Deuteronomy 34:7): Moses was 80 years old when God called him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, and he lived to be 120 years old. Despite his old age, Moses remained strong and led God’s people with wisdom and courage. His life shows that God can use us at any stage of life to accomplish His purposes.
Zacharias and Elizabeth (Luke 1:5-25): Zacharias and Elizabeth were well past childbearing age when they were promised a child, John the Baptist. Elizabeth had been barren for years, but in her old age, she conceived a child, proving that God’s power has no age limit. Their faith and obedience were rewarded with a miracle.
These examples remind us that age is not a barrier to God’s miraculous power. Whether you are young or old, God’s plans for your life are not limited by time or circumstances.

Biblical Wisdom for Living Out Your Dreams:
As we continue in life, there are several key scriptures to help us walk wisely and redeem the time God gives us.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 KJV: “Whatsoever thy hand finds to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goes.” This verse encourages us to take action and pursue our dreams with all our strength, as we do not know how long we have.
Habakkuk 2:2 KJV: “And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that reads it.” This verse speaks to the power of vision and clarity. Writing down your dreams and setting clear goals allows you to stay focused and motivated as you move forward.
Ephesians 5:16-17 KJV: “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.” This scripture encourages us to make the most of the time we have and to seek understanding of God’s will. Even as we grow older, we must stay diligent and walk in wisdom.
In conclusion, the dreams and promises God gives us do not have an expiration date. As we see from the lives of Abraham, Moses, and Zacharias, age is not a limitation to receiving God’s blessings and performing His will. Through wisdom, prayer, and faith, we can continue to walk in the fullness of God’s calling, redeeming the time and living out His purposes for us, no matter where we are in life. Dreams do not expire; they are simply waiting for God’s perfect timing to bring them to fruition.
