Letter From the Editors Desk: Letter From the Editor’s Desk: Why Unanswered Prayers Are Part of God’s Perfect Plan
1 Corinthians 6:12 KJV “All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.”
Hello ePrayer Circle Tribe,
I was sitting here thinking about unanswered prayers. Have you ever wondered why some of your prayers seem to go unanswered? The Bible gives us clear reasons why this might happen. It’s not that God doesn’t hear us, but sometimes there are things in our lives that block our prayers.
And then, there’s another important question—are we asking for what’s in His will? God will never give us something that takes us away from Him.
I remember when my 85-year-old mother was in the hospital with cancer this year. I prayed without ceasing for her to stay, but it was her time. She didn’t want surgeries; she was ready, even though I wasn’t. In the end, I knew it was His will to take her, and I found peace in knowing she’s no longer suffering. She’s doing great with the Lord now.
There was also a time when I prayed for a particular house in a nice neighborhood. I got it and lived there for 25 years. But after two decades, the area changed. Crime increased, property values dropped, and the place became unlivable.
I ended up losing money and wishing I had never moved there. What seemed like a blessing turned out to be a lesson: now, I always ask if it’s God’s will and if it’s truly good for me.
What about you? Do you have any unanswered prayers? Sometimes, we’re glad God didn’t give us what we asked for, because He knows best. Let’s talk about it.
1 John 3:20 KJV18My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. 19And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. 20For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
21Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. 22And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 23And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
- Not Praying Enough
We often say, I do pray. However in many cases we are not praying enough. We pray until it is received. Sometimes fast with prayer.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV “Pray without ceasing.”
- It is Not the Appointed Time to Receive It.
It’s not the appointed time. God timing is perfect. We have to wait on the Lord. He is predestined and directs our steps.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 KJV reminds us, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Trusting in God’s plan and His timing is essential for our spiritual growth.
Jeremiah 29:11KJV “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
- God Has a Differnt Plan For Your Life.
God has something better for you. You may have to take a different path.
Proverbs 16:9 KJV says, “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.”
- Unrepented Sins
One big reason we have unanswered prayers is unrepented sin. If we have sin in our hearts and don’t ask for forgiveness, our prayers may not be answered.
Psalm 66:18 KJV says, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” Repenting and turning away from sin is important to keep communication open with God.
- Rebellion and Not Accepting Correction
Sometimes, prayers go unanswered because we are rebellious or refuse to accept correction. Proverbs 1:24-25 KJV tells us that if we refuse to listen when God corrects us, we may not receive what we ask for. God wants us to obey Him, and when we resist, it blocks our prayers.
1 Samuel 15:23 KJV “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.”
- Disrespecting Parents or Authority
Another reason prayers may not be answered is when we disrespect parents or people God has placed in our lives to help us.
Ephesians 6:2-3 KJV says, “Honor thy father and mother… that it may be well with thee.” Respecting authority and following God’s commands can help our prayers be heard.
- Praying for Vanity, Not Growth
When we pray for things out of vanity or selfish desires, our prayers may not be answered. God wants you to have a home. Do you need 25 bathrooms for 5 people?
James 4:3 KJV says, “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” God answers prayers that help us grow, not just for selfish reasons.
- Not Close to God or God’s Word
If we are not spending time in God’s Word, we may not even recognize His answers. The Bible is God’s way of speaking to us.
John 15:7 KJV says, “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done.” Being close to God’s Word is key to receiving His blessings.
- Delays from Witchcraft or Wrong Choices (Disobedience)
Sometimes prayers are delayed because of spiritual warfare or bad choices we have made. Making poor choices or being involved in things not of God can also cause delays in our answers. Daniel 10:13 KJV speaks of an angel’s message being delayed by the “prince of Persia,” which was spiritual resistance.
John 14:15 KJV “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
- Not Praising God or Going to His House
If we are not praising God or going to His house, it may hinder your prayers.
Hebrews 10:25 KJV reminds us not to neglect meeting together, and Psalm says to “enter into his gates with thanksgiving.” Praise and worship are important to keep our hearts open to God.
- Unforgiveness and Lack of Love
God commands us to love and forgive others. If we hold grudges, our prayers may be hindered.
Mark 11:25 KJV says, ““And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”
- Unstable Faith or Doubting God’s Ability
Lastly, if we don’t believe that God can do what we ask, our prayers may not be answered. Stable faith and trust in God’s ability are key to answered prayers. Before Jesus would heal a person. He would ask, Do you believe I am able?
James 1:6-7 KJV says, “4But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. 5If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.8A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
By correcting these areas in our lives, we can open the way for God to hear and answer our prayers. Let’s turn to Him with faith, repentance, and a heart full of love and trust. How can you trust God’s timing and plan more when your prayers seem to go unanswered?

These commandments serve as moral guidelines that reflect God’s will for how we should live in relation to Him and to one another.

Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation
John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit.
