ePrayer Room: Selfishness and Disobedience Keeps People From Knowing God and Receiving Blessings. Matthew 13: 19-24 KJV Explained.

Heavenly Father, I come before You with a humble heart, asking for Your forgiveness. I repent for any selfishness and disobedience that has kept me from following Your Word. Help me to turn away from my own desires and seek Your will in everything I do. Teach me to walk in obedience and love, putting You first in my life. Strengthen my faith so I may grow closer to You each day. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

In Matthew 13:19-24 KJV, Jesus tells the Parable of the Sower, a story about a farmer who sows seeds on different types of soil. The seeds represent the Word of God, and the soil represents people’s hearts. Jesus explains that selfishness and disobedience keep people from truly knowing God.

In verse 19, the seed that falls by the wayside is like people who hear God’s Word but don’t understand it. Satan easily takes it away because their hearts are closed. This is often due to selfish desires that pull them away from God.

In verses 20-21, Jesus talks about the seed that falls on rocky ground. These are people who get excited about God’s Word but quickly fall away when troubles come. Disobedience to God’s teachings makes it hard for them to stay strong.

Verses 22-23 explain that the seed falling among thorns is like people who hear God’s Word but let worries and the love of money choke it out. Selfishness and focusing on worldly things keep them from growing in faith.

Lastly, verse 24 tells us that the seed that falls on good soil represents people who listen, obey, and grow in their faith. They know God because they put Him first, not their own selfish desires.

To know God, we must avoid selfishness and obey His Word. When we listen to God and put Him first, we grow closer to Him.
