The Gospel consists of the four books in the New Testament that gives the teachings of Jesus Christ, written by John, Luke, Mark, and Matthew. Apostle Luke, a Gentile and a physician, wrote this Gospel and the Book of Acts. Luke’s work is assumed to be written in AD 60-62 during the time disciple Paul was in jail.
His works were dedicated to Theophilus, a Roman dignitary. Luke gives an ordered account of the events of Jesus’s life but not necessarily in order. His primary research was eyewitnesses, disciples, and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Luke gives many accounts of Jesus’s healing ministry because Luke was a physician himself.
Chapter Seven: Overview of Chapter Seven – Note: Time and distance are not barriers to his powers as he works outside of time.
Jesus enters into Capernaum. A Centurion’s servant is sick and ready to die but the Centurion wants him to live. He sends Jewish elders to ask Jesus to come and heal his servant. The elders went to Jesus and spoke of the Centurion highly. They said he loves the nation and built a synagogue. He is a man of authority and many people are under him. Jesus is on the way, but more friends of the Centurion met Jesus and said that the man did not think he was worthy of Jesus’s presence nor was his servant.
They ask Jesus to not enter the house but to heal the servant from where he stood, and their request is granted because of the Centurion’s faith. Jesus did not need to be in the servant’s presence to heal him. Time and distance are not barriers to his powers, as he further demonstrates when he brings back to life a widower’s only son. Note: The son is dead. He is not sick. Jesus did not prevent him from dying. However, he could have.
Note: Luke writes that Jesus states that there is no greater prophet born of a woman than John the Baptist which verifies that Jesus did not consider himself a prophet but higher, the Son of God in the flesh, Son of Man, and God as he is identified in this chapter. Luke 7: 29-30 29And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. 30The Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.
Chapter Eight : Overview of Chapter Eight. Note: It is important to note that Jesus accepts all believers as equals.
Jesus went into every city and village, preaching and showing the glad tidings of the Kingdom of God. The twelve disciples were with him and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities. Mary called Magdalene, out of whom Jesus sent seven devils, Joanna, the wife of Chuza Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others.
Jesus told his disciples, unto them the mysteries of the Kingdom of God is known but to others he spoke parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand (least they may be saved). The Word of God is a seed. 1. Those by the wayside hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 2. Those on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. 3. They that fall among the thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither anything hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.
Jesus was told that his mother and brother came to hear him but could not get in because of the crowd. Jesus responded, ” My mother and brethren are these which hear the word of God and do it.”
Note: Jesus came to the defense of a woman who washed his feet with oil. The story demonstrated that Jesus expect and accepts praise from those who love him.

CALL TO SALVATION:
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit. (Get Baptized)
