Daily Word: Heavenly Harmonies: How Beasts Inspire Us to Praise God
Psalms 150:6 KJV Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.”
Birds like the American Robin, Eastern Bluebird, Baltimore Oriole, and Spotted Towhee are amazing creatures that fill the world with their beautiful songs. They sing at dawn, in the morning, and sometimes in the evening, as if praising God, the Creator. The Bible tells us that everything that has breath should praise the Lord (Psalms 150:6, KJV). Birds are a wonderful example of this because their songs remind us to give thanks and praise to God every day.
Praise is important because God demands it. We were created to praise God, as Jesus explained in Luke 19:37-40 (KJV), when He said that if people keep silent, the stones will cry out. This shows how important it is to use our breath to honor God. When we praise God, we are showing gratitude for everything He has created.
Luke 19:37-40 (KJV), 37And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen; 38Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
39And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. 40And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
Just like birds sing their songs to praise God, we can use our voices to thank Him for all the blessings in our lives. Praise helps us feel joyful and at peace, reminding us of God’s love and presence in our lives.
The Bible also teaches that both people and animals share the same breath of life. In Ecclesiastes 3:18-20 (KJV), it says that God tests us so we may see that we are like animals, sharing the same breath. This means that, like birds, we should use our breath to praise God. Praise is powerful because it can renew, restore, and repair our souls, lifting our spirits and bringing us closer to God.
Ecclesiastes 3:18 KJV 18I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts. 19For that which befall the sons of men befall beasts; even one thing befall them: as the one die, so die the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. 20All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.
In times of trouble or sadness, praising God can lift our spirits and renew our strength. It helps us focus on the good things God has done and trust that He is always with us. Praise is powerful, and just like the birds, we can use it to honor our Creator and find joy in His presence.
So, the next time you hear a bird singing, remember that it is praising God. Let it remind you to also use your voice to praise and thank God for all He has done. Together, we and the birds can fill the world with songs of praise, bringing glory to God and peace to our hearts.
Reflective Question: How can you remind yourself to praise and honor God in our daily lives?

Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation
John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit.
