ePrayer Room: Revival: Elevate Your Mind and Spirit to Access the Power of God

Revival in the Christian church is a time of renewed spiritual focus and commitment to God. Elevating your mind means focusing on things above, not on earthly things. This helps us to continue to access the power of God. The Bible guides us to think about good, pure, and holy things to grow closer to God. Let’s look at a real-world example, three scriptures, and one Bible story to understand this better.  “When Praises Go Up- Blessings Come Down”

Real-World Example

Imagine a gardener who wants a beautiful garden. They must clear away weeds and plant good seeds. Similarly, we need to remove bad thoughts and focus on God. When we think about God’s goodness, it’s like planting good seeds in our hearts. This brings us peace and power from God.

2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV  “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”

Revival in the Church

Revival involves special services with preaching, singing, and prayer, aiming to renew faith and inspire believers. During revival, Christians seek God’s presence, repent, and renew their dedication to living a holy life. This spiritual renewal is key to elevating both mind and spirit to access God’s power.

John 4:23-24 KJV 23But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Scriptures

  1. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV): “If my people…shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face…then will I hear from heaven.” This emphasizes the importance of prayer and seeking God during revival.
  2. Psalm 85:6 (KJV): “Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?” Revival brings joy and renewed faith to God’s people.
  3. Colossians 3:2 (KJV): “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” This means we should focus on heavenly things, like God’s love and truth, instead of worldly desires.
  4. Philippians 4:8 (KJV): “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” This verse encourages us to think about good and positive things, which helps us stay close to God.
  5. Romans 12:2 (KJV): “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” By changing our thoughts, we can understand God’s perfect plan for us.

Bible Story

The story of Daniel is a great example. Daniel was taken to Babylon, a place with many distractions. However, he stayed focused on God. He prayed three times a day and didn’t eat the king’s rich food. Because he kept his mind on God, he was wise and able to interpret dreams. God blessed him with great wisdom and protection.

Conclusion

Revival helps elevate your mind and spirit to access God’s power. By focusing on good things and setting your thoughts on God, you can experience His peace and strength. Remember, just like a gardener tends to their garden, we must tend to our minds by planting good thoughts and removing bad ones. Trust in God, and He will guide and bless you.

Reflective Question: How can you focus more on heavenly things and praise God in your daily life?

A CALL TO SALVATION:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7

Matthew 28:19 KJV  “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son (Jesus), and of the Holy Ghost:
