EPrayer Room: “Why Obeying God’s Commands Leads to Blessings: Trust, Faith, and Biblical Obedience”

Believers should do what God has commanded and not what they think is appropriate. In order to be obedient we must study the Word of God–The King James Bible.  Obeying God in all things brings blessings and keeps us on the right path. Lets review a bible story right now. One Bible story that shows this is the story of King Saul in 1 Samuel 15:1-35 KJV.

God told King Saul to destroy the Amalekites and everything they had. But Saul thought it was better to save the best sheep and cattle. He also spared the king. When Samuel confronted him, Saul said he saved the best animals to sacrifice to God. But Samuel replied, “To obey is better than sacrifice” (1 Samuel 15:1-35, KJV). Because Saul disobeyed, God rejected him as king.

1 Samuel 15:23-25 KJV   23For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. 24And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice. 25Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD.

This story teaches us the importance of following God’s commands. Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV) says, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” We must trust God and do what He says, even if we think our way is better.

Proverbs 3: 1-7 KJV 1My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: 2For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. 3Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: 4So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. 5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

Another scripture is John 14:15 (KJV): “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” Obeying God shows our love for Him. When we follow God’s commands, we honor Him and show our faith. Trusting in God and obeying His word will lead to a blessed and fulfilled life. So, let’s strive to obey the Lord in all things and not rely on our own understanding.

Reflection Question: How can you better trust and obey God’s commands in your daily life?

Call to salvation

John 3:16  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit.
