ePrayer Room: Change: Rebuilding in the Spirit: Overcoming Trauma, Anger, and Procrastination with God’s Help

Change can be hard, but rebuilding our lives in the Spirit to manifest changes in our physical lives makes it easier. People often face significant changes, such as retiring, starting families, dealing with illness, managing financial challenges, and graduating. The Bible provides powerful tools to help us through tough times. Let’s look at three areas: overcoming trauma, dealing with anger, and overcoming procrastination.

First, overcoming trauma and a distressed spirit. Life can bring many challenges that hurt our hearts. The Bible tells us in 1 John 4:4, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

This means God’s power in us is stronger than any problem we face. To calm our spirits, we can create routines like praying every morning, reading a comforting Bible verse, or taking deep breaths and thinking about God’s love.  Acknowledge that trauma has affected you and understand that it’s a process requiring patience and compassion.

  • Listen to bible based holy music and praise God to heal your spirit- He restores my soul.
  • Consider faith-based counseling, which integrates psychological support with spiritual growth.
  • Psalms 23:3 KJV  “He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

Next, overcoming anger, which drains our energy. Anger can make us feel weak and tired. Psalms 37:8 says, “Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.” This verse tells us to stop being angry and not to let it lead us to do bad things.

When we feel anger rising, we can ask God to help us. A simple prayer like, “Lord, shake the evil out of my day,” can help us feel calm and focused on good things.

  • Understand what triggers your anger and how it impacts your behavior.
  • Keep a journal to track situations that provoke anger and your reactions.
  • Ecclesiastes 7:9 KJV  “Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.”

Lastly, overcoming procrastination. It’s easy to put things off, but this can stop us from achieving our goals. Psalms 119:133 says, “Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.”

This means we should ask God to guide our actions each day. To manage our time better, we can make a list of tasks, set small goals, and pray for strength to do them. Asking God to “order my steps” helps us stay on track.

  • Ask for God’s help in developing a diligent and disciplined mindset.
  • Define your goals and break them down into manageable tasks.
  • Proverbs 24:33-34- KJV    33Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 34So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

In conclusion, rebuilding in the Spirit means trusting God to help us overcome trauma, anger, and procrastination. With God’s Word and simple routines, we can find peace and strength to face each day. Let’s remember, “greater is he that is in you” and trust God to guide our steps.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
