It usually takes 3 months (90) to develop permanent good habits as proven by science. However, with God, it may take a day, a week, or more. It depends on the person and his or her relationship with God. A safe space is 90 days for most people to develop and practice a new system to change his or her life. Start 2023 by allowing your prayers and praise to change YOU.

Author’s testimony. Back in the day, this author smoked cigarettes because I thought it was cool. Remember Virginia Slims commercials? It was also a way to control my weight. I smoked instead of eating. Breakfast was coffee and a cigarette. Lunch was a cigarette and a Coco-Cola. I smoked a pack a day. Ouch. The price doubled and I had to find cigarette money in couches. I tried everything to stop smoking cigarettes and I would always pick that habit back up again, the minute I gained a pound.
One day, sitting in my bedroom alone, I sincerely asked God to help me. I got up and I flushed the cigarettes, including the one I was smoking in the toilet. I announced I was no longer a smoker to God. I never picked up another cigarette again and that was 28 years ago. It’s as if I never smoked cigarettes and being around others who smoke did not and do not spark that remembrance or desire. Prayer changes things.
It’s important to know that I really really wanted to stop smoking. I was always burning my clothes, and car seats, and I did not like the smell of cigarette smoke over smelling my perfume. My employer was making it hard to find a good smoking area in order to get employees to quit. If they succeeded, they would get cheaper group insurance rates. In the winter, we (employees) had to smoke during break outside.
My employer even offered to pay people $25 to complete a Stop Smoking Campaign-Program. I thought that would be embarrassing, especially if you did not stop smoking at the end of the program. Some did it. I wanted to be private. All this to say, you can do it. There is nothing impossible with God. Everything in life does not work the same way because God wants you to learn and honor him in the process. Are you on the milk or meat?
Losing weight requires changing eating habits so you don’t gain it back. It will take some discipline. Praising God will get you that discipline. Learn to plan and research things to make better choices in life about anything. Ask God for wisdom so you will know how to do this.
In some cases, God will give you answers but he may want to train you in a thinking process that you can apply to any situation so you may in turn help others, teach, supervise or become a better parent or spouse. Changing your spirit is a process that God wants you to do so you can KEEP it that way. The mind is the battlefield.
