1. Call on the name of our Lord and Savior believing in Jesus Christ. Believe in Jesus. Confess with your mouth Jesus came in the flesh as the Son of God. Jesus died and rose again to life for our sins. Saved people are called Believers.  Most people are saved before joining the church or being baptized by confessing Jesus Christ is Lord. You have to accept the free gift of salvation by faith.

Jesus Christ is Lord

John 3:16  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

Matthew 3:11 KJV  “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:”

Acts 2:21 KJV  “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

(Blog Authors Note: We call on God by praying in Jesus’ name. “All who pray in Jesus name shall be saved”.

James 2:19 KJV   19Thou believes that there is one God; thou does well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

Where is the proof of your faith?  The manifestation of a saved spirit are the fruits of the spirit. Galatians 5:22 KJV  “But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, and faith,”

Ephesians 2:8 KJV  “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:   9Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

Acts 4:12 KJV “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

John 1:12 KJV 10He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name

2. Be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Baptism is more than a human ritual confirming or sealing the faith, it is the ritual that permits the fulfillment of righteousness, spiritual cleansing, and purification by the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a witness to the saved person’s (Believer) adoption as a child of God.  He also gives gifts and power.  Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist to fulfill all righteousness just as he fulfilled the law.  In addition, baptism is symbolic in that going under the water represents partaking in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Ye must be born again.

Matthew 28:18-20 KJV  18And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in the earth. 19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit.

John 3:7 KJV  Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

1 Corinthians 12:13 KJV  “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.”

John 3:4-7 KJV  4Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Examples:

Jesus can forgive anyone’s sin and call anyone’s name to heaven regardless of rules – as he did the thief on the cross.  It is up to him. John 14:6 KJV “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Three examples below explain this power.

  1. Jesus forgave a thief on the cross that was sentenced to die. The thief announced his faith in Jesus and he was forgiven and received in heaven. Jesus has the power to forgive sins.

Luke 23: 40-43 KJV   40But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost, not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? 41And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. 42And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comes into thy kingdom. 43And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise

    2.  When Jesus walked with the disciples they had all their needs met as well as protection but he warned them of different rules to follow because he was leaving.

Luke 22: 35- 37 KJV  35And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, Nothing. 36Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. 37For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.

   3. Jesus himself was baptized to fulfill all righteousness. Jesus was already saved before being baptized as he is the Son of God but baptism fulfilled all righteousness and demonstrated the manifestation of the Holy Spirit to Believers. He also fulfilled the law on our behalf. Matthew 5:17 KJV “Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. Romans 6:14 KJV  “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law but under grace.”

Matthew 3:15 KJV  14But John (The Baptist) forbad him (Jesus), saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comes thou to me? 15And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becomes us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered him. 16And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him17And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Holy Spirit:  Jesus is the authority in these teachings and examples to be followed. In addition, it is symbolic in that going under the water represents partaking in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The symbolic rising from death to life in the ritual spirit-to be born again by receiving the Holy Spirit who is a witness of our salvation, a reminder of the teaching of Jesus, to whom all spiritual blessings are given and he in turn gives them to us.

Jesus sends the comforter and helper: The Holy Spirit

John 14:26  “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

14For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but ye have received the Spirit of adoption,  16The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ;

Gifts of the Holy Spirit:

1 Corinthians 12:8-13 KJV 8For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kind of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. 12For as the body is one and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
