The Gospel consists of the four books in the New Testament that gives the teachings of Jesus Christ, written by John, Luke, Mark, and Matthew.
Overview of the Gospel of Matthew:
Matthew’s name means “Gift of the Lord”, a tax collector who left everything to follow Jesus Christ as an apostle (disciple). His former name was Levi, the tax collector. Matthew wrote the Gospel of Matthew. He wrote it for people who converted from Judaism. This Gospel demonstrates that Jesus Christ is the King and Messiah of Israel. His works support that Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of all of the old testament prophecies of the coming of the Messiah.
“This book describes Jesus’s genealogy, his miraculous birth and childhood, his baptism and temptation, his ministry of healing and preaching, and finally his crucifixion and resurrection. The resurrected Jesus commissions his Apostles to “go and make disciples of all nations.” Source: Retrieved from the internet on 11/16/2021 from The New World Encyclopedia. https://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Gospel_of_Matthew

You will learn the sign from heaven that Jesus gave to the disciples to increase their faith. He did not give a sign from heaven to the Pharisees and Sadducees because he knew their hearts. They had no faith in him. The disciples were his followers so he revealed mysteries of heaven to them just as he does today according to scripture. 3And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him (Jesus). Matthew 17: 5 KJV 5While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
Note: Two well-respected prophets who had transcended death as there is no death in God were talking with Jesus and the voice of God claimed Jesus and told the disciples to hear (obey) him.
Jesus healed a lunatic when the disciples could not. A young man could not be healed by the disciples. Jesus rebuked and healed him and he told the disciples it took faith, prayer, and fasting for this type of healing.
Matthew 17: 19-22 KJV Then the disciples came to Jesus, and said, Why could not we cast him out? 20And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove, and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
20And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. 21Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
Jesus foretells his own death and resurrection: 21Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. 22And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: 23And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.
Tribute or temple tax money was miraculously provided. Jesus was approached to pay tribute, a temple tax charged annually equivalent to about two days’ wages to males to upkeep the temple. Jesus explained that the Kings of the earth get tribute (tax or temple) money from a stranger rather than their own children. So their children are free from paying. Jesus is the Son of God and did not have to pay the tax but he did.
Jesus demonstrates paying the temple tax as not to offend. He told a disciple to go to the lake and get a fish, open its mouth and find the money, another miracle. Jesus paid for himself and Peter the tribute or temple tax with the money found in the fish as not to offend the people of the place they were visiting.
Jesus exhorts his disciples to humility. The disciples asked Jesus who is the greatest? Jesus answered, Matthew 18:4 KJV “Whosoever, therefore, shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
Jesus warns the disciples to not despise the children. Matthew 18:6KJV “But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone was hanged about his neck, and that he was drowned in the depth of the sea.”
How to deal with an offensive sibling. Matthew 18: 15-17 KJV Moreover, if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. 16But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. 17And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglects to hear the church, let him be unto thee as a heathen man and a publican.
The parable of the king who forgave the servant’s debt but the servant would not forgive a person who owed him so the King changed his mind to not forgive the servant, Matthew 18:35 “So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.”

Call to salvation
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation
John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit.
