The Gospel consists of the four books in the New Testament that gives the teachings of Jesus Christ, written by John, Luke, Mark, and Matthew.
Overview of the Gospel of Matthew:
Matthew’s name means “Gift of the Lord”, a tax collector who left everything to follow Jesus Christ as an apostle (disciple). His former name was Levi, the tax collector. Matthew wrote the Gospel of Matthew. He wrote it for people who converted from Judaism. This Gospel demonstrates that Jesus Christ is the King and Messiah of Israel. His works support that Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of all of the old testament prophecies of the coming of the Messiah.
“This book describes Jesus’s genealogy, his miraculous birth and childhood, his baptism and temptation, his ministry of healing and preaching, and finally his crucifixion and resurrection. The resurrected Jesus commissions his Apostles to “go and make disciples of all nations.” Source: Retrieved from the internet on 11/16/2021 from The New World Encyclopedia. https://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Gospel_of_Matthew

Summary of lesson seven and lesson eight
Jesus taught “Judge not, that ye be not judged, about judging people.
Note: This scripture does not mean you should not have discernment. It is good to have truthful assessments ” distinguishing the difference between holy and unholy” under the guidance of the holy spirit. Leviticus 10:10 KJV “And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean;”
Jesus warned believers not to give holy things to dogs or unsaved people. Note: There were places Jesus could not perform many miracles because there was no belief. When he taught, and his teachings were rejected, he said it was because those listening did not believe and hated the truth.
John 8:43-47KJV 43Why do ye not understand my speech? 6because ye cannot hear my word. 44Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar and the father of it. 45And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. 46Which of you convince me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? 47He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye, therefore, hear them not, because ye are not of God.
Jesus’s made a promise to those who believe and pray for manifestations of solutions to their needs. Matthew 7:8 KJV “For every one that ask receives; and he that seeks finds, and to him that knocks it shall be opened.” Jesus taught how to identify false prophets. Matthew 7:20 KJV “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”
Note. Fruit does not necessarily refer to children but includes what you generate from your love for God. Your works cannot save you but saved folks do exploits (works). Daniel 11:32 “And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” “The definition of an exploit is a heroic act or an act worthy of praise”. This definition is from Oxford language dictionary. Exploit can also mean a good deed.
Jesus compared people who do the will of God to a wise man that builds his house on a rock that withstands all storms. He compared people who do not do the will of God to a foolish man who builds his house on sand, that washes away in a storm. The house on the rock is built on a strong foundation, the words of God.
Jesus cleansed a leper and healed a centurion’s servant. 1When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. 2And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 3And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
Note: Here it is noted that the leper knew Jesus was able to heal him if it was his will. Then Jesus declared it was his will to clean him and spoke “be thou clean”. It is noted that Jesus healed the leper by speaking.
There was a centurion ( a man that commanded 100 soldiers) who asked Jesus to heal his servant. However, he did not think he was worthy of Jesus’ presence in his house and asked him to just speak the word and he would be healed. he told Jesus of his authority. Jesus marveled at his faith because the Centurion recognized Jesus’ total authority and bowed to it. Matthew 8:13KJV “And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the same hour.”
Note: In both cases, the leper and the centurion, it was Jesus’s will that the leper and servant be healed. He also just spoke the healing.
Jesus healed Peter’s wife’s mother and many others. Matthew 8:14-17KJV “And when Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever.” 15And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them. 16When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: 17That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
Note: Jesus took on our sins and bore our sickness so that we could live life and live it abundantly.
What it takes to follow Jesus. A scribe asked Jesus if he may follow him. Jesus told him that the Son of Man had nowhere to lay his head. In other words, don’t look for luxuries. Matthew 8:21KJV 21And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. 22But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.
Note: Jesus requires complete devotion and loyalty. This is in line with the two greatest commandments Jesus gave. Mark 12: 29-31KJV29And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
31And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There are none other commandments greater than these. Matthew 10:37 “He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.”
How Jesus stills the troubled water (tempest). Jesus and the disciples were on a boat. Jesus was tired and went to sleep. The waters were troubled. The disciples were afraid they were going to drown so they awake Jesus. He calmed the water “Peace Be Still”. Matthew 8:26KJV “And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.”
Note: Again, Jesus only spoke to rebuke the sea and wind. They marveled at Jesus’ deity. The sea and wind obeyed him.
Jesus healed two men possessed with devils. The devils recognized Jesus and begged not to be sent to the abyss. Jesus sent the devils into 2000 pigs that ran into the sea and drowned. Matthew 8:29KJV 29And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
Note: This parable explained that even the demons and devils know who Jesus is and that he is to judge them. Many know the truth but do not care about it.

Call to salvation
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation
John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit.
