It is Day 7 out of 45 days to study the Gospel. We are studying two lessons a day. If you did not start at day one, do not worry. Each lesson is self-contained and you can start anywhere. Chapter 13 : Overview of Chapter 13. Before the feast of the Passover, Jesus knows that his hour has come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end. Jesus washes the feet of the disciples to show humility is a highly desirable trait. He gave a new commandment to love each other.
Jesus foretells of two disciples and their betrayal of him. One is going to tell where he is located to the Pharisees who are seeking to kill him. The other will deny Jesus. The cock will crow after he is denied three times. In this chapter, Jesus is glorified in that he can predict the future…meaning God knows all things and is predestine.
Chapter 14 : Overview of Chapter 14. Jesus prepares his disciples for his departure. He comforts them and reinforces their faith in him. They ask to see the Father. He confirms that they are looking at him. The Father and he are one. He is in the Father and the Father is in him. He tells them he goes to prepare a place for them reassuring them of his return.
He stated that in his Father’s house there are many mansions. He promises to ask the Father to send the disciples the Holy Spirit who will teach them all things. He leaves his peace with them and warns them of the Prince (devil) of this world that will come that hath nothing in him.
