Thou Shalt Have No Other Gods Before Me : Be Careful of Describing Images of Jesus Christ

Exodus 20: 4  4Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
No Other God

Many people of various nationalities do not acknowledge Jesus Christ because they view him as a Caucasian. Many people of color think of Caucasian  or white man as an oppressor or slave owner.  They think the Christian religion was manipulated by him to control people.

They question the authenticity of the bible because of the many translations.   Unfortunately, some Christian’s behavior do not resemble Christ’s behavior of Love and Truth. These character defaults and wrong accusations contribute to negative thinking about Christianity and Jesus Christ.  However, I find many of the same accusations are made toward other religions.

How could Jesus be prejudice?  First, Jesus Christ does not promote religion. He promotes salvation, the forgiveness and remittance of sins and a holy relationship through the Holy Spirit.  He was born in the flesh as a Jew who may have had color as the Jews in that area even today because of the desert life and sun are people of color.   The bible description of him has never changed.  Another point, is that scientist have documented with proof that all life started in Africa and that the modern human started with an African Woman.  You will lose eternal life rejecting Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is a spirit. John 4:24  “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

John 15:14  “Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

James 1:27 “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”

All (believers) are a heir to the kingdom by being a seed of Abraham (Jew).  Our faith makes us a seed that by faith entitles us to the heir of the kingdom of God.

Galatians 3:25-29

25But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. 26For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

What is important to understand is don’t lose sight of the big picture.  The two commandments Jesus commanded us to live by are in the following scripture. He did reinstate the 10 Commandments from the old testament but added two more that encompassed the other commandments.

Matthew 22:36-39  36Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment. 39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

First, Jesus Christ never owned slaves of any kind. He referred to his disciples and believers as friends.  People believe what they see of images of Jesus Christ. In reality, these images are no more than marketing ploys of church fans and many religious items sold with a false image of Jesus Christ.   I often explain that the bible has not changed the description of Jesus Christ nor his nature.  Remember,  many pictures are marketing items using pictures of hired models and actors.

Jesus Christ before being born in the flesh is the CREATOR of heaven and earth and all life.  He is the WORD that became FLESH.  He existed before his human birth as the Son of God. God made man in his own image.  All men are made alike as a human.  All men are made in the image of God.  At one time in US history, black people (slaves) were not considered human so that advantages could be gain by others.  Just because it was said and acted upon,  did not make it true.

John 1:1-3  1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

John 1:14  “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

Black people are made in the image of God just as everyone else.  No race is excluded from the victimization of superiority, greed, power, rape, violence, and vanity.  These are some of the reasons Jesus Christ died on the cross to give us a chance to survive the trauma of evil. We have the victory through his spirit, to live life, and live it more abundantly. It’s sin that created slavery: greed, sex, vanity, power, and violence.   It was and still is God’s grace and love that brought us our Exodus.

Romans 14:17  KJV  “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink, but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”

Descriptive Words of Jesus Christ.

Many false beliefs of Christianity and Jesus Christ are spreading because people do not study the bible for themselves.   Therefore, I advise anyone, don’t get caught up in marketing ploys, pictures, and street talk. ePrayer Circle use selective images for teaching purposes. Many use pictures of angels of loved ones to help with mourning and for encouragement.  Neither should be displayed in such a way as to turn others away from God nor do we worship or bow down to them.  It is advisable to put the word of God all around you.

You will lose eternal life rejecting Jesus Christ because of images or hear say religion.  You will also lose his Grace and Peace while living.  Jesus Christ is the God of all nations.    To learn more please start studying ePrayer’s Circle’s  “45 Days to Read the Gospel”.   It’s FREE.  Listed under the menu tab “45 Day Challenge”.

Below is a scripture that warns us of making images of anything in heaven, hell (in the earth beneath), or the deepest parts of the sea (water under the earth).

Exodus 20: 1-5

And God spake all these words, saying,

2I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

5Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

7Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Acts 4:12  “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

Evidence of God

Call to salvation:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit.

Below is a hymn in the public domain: Blessed Assurance.  This link will take you to an earlier post of ePrayer Circle that contains full lyrics and free piano music so that you can get your praise on.
