Seniors Are Selected by God to do Special Work for the Kingdom of God. Psalms 92: 13-15 KJV

Throughout the bible, God used people of many years to do the work of God and to bless them.  Here are scriptures on what God says about seniors and the elderly.  Seniors were to be respected for wisdom and knowledge and were to counsel the younger generations with experience and the leading of God. They are appointed to never stop bearing fruit (sharing salvation to save souls) for the Kingdom of God. They became teachers, ministers, and priests because they were of age to obey God and represent with a spirit of excellence not giving in to temptations. See “Resources” for extra reading on senior people in the bible below.

Job 12:12  KJV “With the ancient is wisdom, and in the length of days understanding.”

Deuteronomy 32:7 KJV “Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.”

Psalms 92: 13-15  KJV   13Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. 14They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; 15To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

Proverbs 20:29  KJV “The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the gray head.”

Titus 2: 1-6  KJV   1But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: 2That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. 3The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. 6Young men likewise exhort to be sober-minded.

Ephesians 5:33  KJV “Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself, and the wife see that she reverence her husband.”  Note reverence means “to regard or treat with deep respect.” according to the dictionary.

The Lord told Moses that after the age of 50 the Levites who were in charge of carrying the tabernacle and setting it up in various places did not have to do that anymore. Instead, they were to give counsel and minister in the tabernacle.

Numbers 8: 23 – 26 KJV 23And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 24This is it that belongeth unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation:25And from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the service thereof, and shall serve no more: 26But shall minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Levites touching their charge.

Below are the requirements of a woman retiring in the church at age 60.  Many churches retire their elderly with compensation.

1 Timothy 5:9-11  9Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man, 10Well reported of for good works; if she has brought up children if she has lodged strangers if she has washed the saints’ feet if she has relieved the afflicted if she has diligently followed every good work.11But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
