Hello ePrayer Circle’s Tribe,

In these uncertain times, it is crucial to embrace responsibility in every aspect of our lives. Whether through prayer and praise, preparations and planning, mental awareness, or actions rooted in trust in God, we must remain vigilant and faithful.

People don’t sleep on this.  If you have not made changes and preparations, get it together NOW.  Below, we explore these responsibilities, an emergency prepareness check list, and supports each responsibility with the wisdom of the Scriptures.

Psalms 119: 133-135 KJV  133Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me. 134Deliver me from the oppression of man: so will I keep thy precepts. 135Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; and teach me thy statutes.

1. Prayer and Praise

Our first responsibility is to engage in constant prayer and praise, seeking God’s guidance and wisdom in all decisions, including during elections. God ordains leaders for His purposes, sometimes promoting good rulers to bless His people or allowing evil ones to draw us closer to Him.

Scriptures:

  • “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.” (Proverbs 21:1)
  • “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” (James 1:5)

2. Preparations and Planning

We must prepare for potential food shortages, power outages, and other emergencies. God calls us to be prudent and diligent in our planning, ensuring we have what we need to endure tough times.

Scriptures:

  • “Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.” (Proverbs 6:6-8)
  • “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.” (Proverbs 27:12)

3. Mental Awareness and Protection

Keeping our minds aware and protected from the chaos and negativity of the world is essential. The Bible teaches us to guard our hearts and minds, focusing on what is true and noble.

Scriptures:

  • “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” (Proverbs 4:23)
  • “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)

4. Trusting Actions

We must take action while trusting in God’s plan for our lives. This means not only preparing but also stepping out in faith, knowing that God will guide and protect us.

Scriptures:

  • “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
  • “Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.” (Proverbs 16:3)

Essential Preparations

In the event of power outages, food shortages, or an immediate evacuation order, consider preparing a 30-day supply of essential items while they are available and affordable. Think of it as if you had to live in your car or truck for a few weeks, much like planning for a camping trip.

Many of these items you may already have at home. Ensure you store them in a box or Tupperware container for easy access when needed. Remember to visit flea markets, churches, and non-profit organizations that provide food and various items if you lack the funds.

You may not have everything, but gather as many of the following items as you can. Many are available at local dollar stores. If you are ok, help someone else.  Please feel free to add or take away or subsitute for any item you deem necessary. This is just a check list that I have gathered for myself and from many prepper articles and videos:

  • Bible, paper and pencils
  • Make a list of local emergency points for food, camp grounds or apps, shelters, friends and relatives, and media outlets for alert news
  • Medicines prescriptions
  • Medicines over the counter: antibiotic or petroleum jelly, ibuprofen or pain relief (if applicable), cough syrups, Epsom salt, constipation relief, pads, rubbing alcohol, etc.
  • Baby supplies: diapers, milk, baby food
  • Batteries for medical equipment and other items
  • Water in bottles  (at least 4 cases)
  • Salt – esp for people with low blood pressure or tendency to get low blood pressure from exercising.
  • Protein powders in case you run out of food or need an energy booster.
  • Vitamins
  • Toliet paper
  • Paper Towels
  • Detergents and cleaning supplies (clorex, drain openers, carpet cleaning, dishwashing)
  • Soaps, toothpaste, listerine, vinegar, and deodorant
  • Blankets
  • Pillows
  • Can openers. Get more than one. *****
  • Non-perishable food items  (rice, beans, veggies, tea, coffee, can meats, fruits, snacks, almond or oat milk, cereals, sweeteners)
  • First aid supplies
  • solar power lights or candles or
  • Grill with charcoal or solar power cook top
  • solar power back up generator with electrical plugins
  • solar power radio with plugin to power phone
  • Whistle to signal for help (SOS)
  • Flashlight battery
  • Bucket to wash anything in.
  • Portable solar power heaters
  • Portable solar power fans
  • Hammer, tape, nails and screw drivers

Reflective Questions:

  • How can prayer and praise guide you in your daily decisions?
  • What steps can you take to prepare for emergencies?

By taking these steps, we honor God’s call to be responsible stewards of our lives and the resources He provides. Let us continue to pray, plan, protect our minds, and act in faith, trusting that God will lead us through every challenge.

May our Living Hope find you faithful,

A CALL TO SALVATION:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
