Hello ePrayer Circle Tribe,

I completed my praying session and thanked God for the many prayers he answered.  I love praying for others and I am overjoyed when I hear people have prayed for me and my eprayer ministry.  Which brings me to this subject of repentance. It is important to make sincere repentance before praying for others. Can you imagine needing prayer and asking an elder to pray for you, but their lifestyle makes you wonder if they are in a position to do so? It may do more harm than good. I say all this to remind us to live a righteous life. The Holy Spirit will help you. Remember that old hymn, “I’m so glad somebody prayed for me”?  Each of us should be praying for others and should be able to do so.

I have personally experienced the benefits of sincere repentance. I have made mistakes in my life, but God has always been faithful to forgive me when I repented. When I repent, I feel God’s love and mercy. I also feel a sense of peace and hope. One thing I have been delivered from is impatience.  I was always rushing and needed to get things done on schedule. Many things did not go as I thought they should, I would become frustrated. I was raising a child as a single working mother.  It was stressful.

As a result, I created high blood pressure for myself.  It didn’t matter if I was right or wrong.  High blood pressure is not a joke.  When I asked God to help me with this, he did.  I trusted him and took deep breaths.  I let go and let God.  As a result, I have a blood pressure lower than I have ever had in 10 years. I feel good all the time. I smile all the time. I have an inner peace.

I often surprise people and myself, when I am patience with them, especially customer service. lol.  Patience is something they don’t experience often.  Be kind to others and you will be kind to yourself.

I encourage you to experience the benefits of sincere repentance for yourself. If you have sinned, acknowledge your sin, express regret, make a commitment to change, and seek God’s help. When you do, you will experience God’s forgiveness and restoration.

Let’s talk about the importance of sincere repentance in relation to the story of Pharaoh and Moses. When God through Moses told Pharaoh to “Let my people go so they may serve me,” Pharaoh refused. He hardened his heart and continued to oppress the Israelites. It was only after many plagues and much suffering that Pharaoh finally relented and allowed the Israelites to go.

Insincere Repentance

Repentance is a turning away from sin and a turning to God. It is a change of mind that agrees with God that we were wrong. It is a necessary step in any journey toward spiritual growth.

When we repent, we acknowledge our mistakes, express regret, and ask for forgiveness. We also make a commitment to change our behavior and live in obedience to God.

The story of Pharaoh in the book of Exodus is a powerful example of insincere repentance. Pharaoh was a powerful ruler who enslaved the Israelites for many years. When Moses came to him with a message from God, Pharaoh refused to let the people go. He hardened his heart and made many threats against Moses and the Israelites.

However, after each of God’s 10 plagues, Pharaoh would eventually repent. He would beg Moses to stop the plagues and promise to let the people go. But each time, Pharaoh would break his word and refuse to let the people go.

Pharaoh’s repentance was not sincere. He was only sorry for his actions when he was faced with the consequences of his sin. He did not truly regret his sin or make a commitment to change his behavior. As a result, God’s judgment continued to fall on the land of Egypt.

Eventually, God killed every firstborn of man and beast, including Pharaoh’s son in Egypt. He spared the Israelites, who had put the blood of a lamb on their doorposts. This event became the famous Passover, which is observed as a religious holiday today.

Pharaoh angrily allowed the people to leave. He followed them to kill them, but God parted the Red Sea to allow the people to escape. Pharaoh and his army were swallowed by the sea when they tried to follow the people.

The story of Pharaoh teaches us that insincere repentance is not tolerated by God. He knows our hearts.  Sincere repentance is essential for receiving God’s forgiveness and blessing as he gave to Moses and the Israelities. He protected them from the death plaque he brought on Egypt. God gives us many chances, as he did with Pharaoh. He forgave him 10 times. It was Pharaoh who broke his word. When we repent, we must do so from the heart.

Exdous 9:27-35 KJV

27And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.

28Intreat the LORD (for it is enough) that there be no more mighty thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer.

29And Moses said unto him, As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands unto the LORD; and the thunder shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that thou mayest know how that the earth is the LORD’S.

30But as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye will not yet fear the LORD God.

31And the flax and the barley was smitten: for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was bolled. 32But the wheat and the rie were not smitten: for they were not grown up.

33And Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands unto the LORD: and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured upon the earth.

34And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants.

35And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, neither would he let the children of Israel go; as the LORD had spoken by Moses.

The Benefits of Sincere Repentance

There are many benefits to sincere repentance. When we repent, we experience God’s forgiveness and cleansing. We are also restored to a right relationship with God. This can bring us great peace and joy.

In addition, sincere repentance can lead to spiritual growth. When we repent, we become more humble and teachable. We are also more likely to obey God’s commands. This can lead to a closer walk with God and a deeper understanding of His will.

We must truly regret our sins and make a commitment to change our behavior. Only then can we experience God’s forgiveness and restoration that create godly transformation in our lives.

John 4:24 KJV  “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

How to Achieve Sincere Repentance

Sincere repentance is not easy. It requires us to be honest with ourselves and with God about our sin. We must also be willing to make a commitment to change our behavior.

Here are some steps that can help us achieve sincere repentance:

1 John 1:9 KJV  “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

  • Acknowledge our sin. We must first admit that we have sinned. This can be difficult, but it is essential for true repentance.
  • Express regret. We must express sincere regret for our sin. We must also ask God for forgiveness.
  • Make a commitment to change. We must make a commitment to change our behavior and live in obedience to God. This may require us to make some difficult changes in our lives, but it is necessary for true repentance.
  • Seek God’s help. We cannot achieve sincere repentance on our own. We need God’s help to change our hearts and our behavior. We can seek God’s help through prayer, Bible study, and fellowship with other believers.

Conclusion

Sincere repentance is essential for spiritual growth and for experiencing God’s forgiveness and blessing. It is not easy, but it is worth it. When we repent, we experience God’s love and mercy. We are also restored to a right relationship with God. This can bring us great peace, joy, and hope.

This Book of Exdous involving Moses and Pharaoh teaches us that  God knowns insincere repentance.  When we truly repent of our sins and turn to God, He is faithful to forgive us and answer our prayers. So let us all strive to live a life of repentance, so that our prayers may be effective and our lives may be blessed.

A CALL TO SALVATION:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
