Easter is a special time for Christians around the world. It’s a time to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is the foundation of our faith. But why is Jesus’ resurrection so important? Let’s explore the significance of Easter and what it means for us today.
The story of Jesus’ resurrection is found in the Bible, in the Gospel of Matthew. After Jesus was crucified and buried, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. But when they arrived, they found the tomb empty! An angel told them, “He is not here, for he has risen, as he said” (Matthew 28:6, KJV). This event changed everything.
- Victory over Death: Jesus’ resurrection shows that He has power over death. This gives us hope that one day we will also be raised to new life with Him. As it says in 1 Corinthians 15:20 KJV, “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept” (KJV).
- Assurance of Salvation: Through His resurrection, Jesus conquered sin and death. Romans 6:9 KJV tells us, “Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him” (KJV). This means that we can have assurance of our salvation and eternal life with God. The soul never dies.
- New Life in Christ: Easter reminds us that we can have a new life in Christ. Romans 6:4 says, “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life” (KJV). Just as Jesus was raised to new life, we too can experience a new life through faith in Him.
In conclusion, the resurrection of Jesus Christ is central to the Christian faith. It shows us that Jesus is the Son of God, that He has power over sin and death, and that through Him, we can have eternal life. This is why Easter matters—it is a celebration of the hope and new life we have in Christ.

A CALL TO SALVATION:
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
