Letter From the Editors Desk : Are You A Distraction or A Direction? Let The Main Thing Be The Main Thing
Dear ePrayer Circle’s Tribe,
In today’s world, it’s easy to get caught up in distractions. Everywhere we turn, there’s gossip, lies, manipulation, and people changing narratives for their personal gain. But as Christians, we’re called to be different. We’re called to be a direction, not a distraction. We’re called to dismiss the noise and focus on the truth. This is how we win.
Think about it like this: in a court of law, each attorney presents their own story and point of view to win a case. Depending on how skillful the lawyer is in telling his point of view is who wins the jury or judge over. It’s not if their client is guilty or not or whether they are lying, it is what they can prove.
But as Christians, we are to be truthful, kind, and do the right thing, no matter the situation. We are to own up to what we do. It’s accountability. Then there is no hidden agendas, tricks and gossipying. Therefore, there is one story- the truth.
Many people look for the truth in a situation to determine their actions and outcomes. I find it better to look for the LIE because that is where the confusion is.
1 Corinthians 14:33 KJV “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”
It is easy for many to hide the lie behind the truth. It’s not what they are saying but what they are NOT saying. It’s also not what they say but what they do. The lie is the distraction. Let’s be truthful and teach our children to tell the truth. Then focusing on the main thing is a lot easier.
One Bible story that illustrates the danger of distractions is the story of Martha and Mary. In Luke 10:38-42, Martha is busy and distracted with serving, while Mary sits at the feet of Jesus, listening to His teachings.
Jesus tells Martha that Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her. This story reminds us that it’s important to prioritize our time and focus on what truly matters.
Proverbs 4:25-27 (KJV) says, “Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. 26Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. 27Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil. This verse reminds us to stay focused on the path of righteousness and not be swayed by distractions.”
Another example: Revelation 2:1 is when seven letters were sent to seven churches, most were excellent but had gotten off track and lost focus. To the angel of the church of Ephesus (loveless church), Jesus approved of their works, labor, and patience. He knew they did not bear evil and rebuked false prophets. They hated the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which he hated also. They labored and bore patience in his namesake but he held one thing against them.
One thing that they needed to repent or he would remove them. They left their first love. Jesus warned them to repent and to do their first works. They lost sight of God in their busyness.
I have seen churches who do not do communion on a regular basics. Months will pass by. Communion is of the first works.
1 Corinthians 11:24 KJV “And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.”
In conclusion, let’s strive to be like Mary, choosing to focus on what is important and not getting caught up in distractions. Let’s be a direction for others, leading them closer to God, and miss the noise of the world.
Reflection Question: Reflect on a time when you felt torn between being a distraction and being a direction in your own life or in your interactions with others. How did you navigate this situation, and what did you learn from it?
May the God of Hope Find You With Peace,

A CALL TO SALVATION:
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
