Below is a story that demonstrates God’s favor or lack of for us. A man asks for leniency in paying a debt and it was given. However, when he met with someone who owed him money, he would not grant leniency so his pass was taken back and he was thrown in jail until every dime was paid back that he owed.
God wants to forgive us for our sins but he looks at the heart. He wants us to love him and love each other. We must forgive all trespasses to receive the same compassion. The same as man’s law. In the US, the law determines sentencing on the intent of the crime. Did you know what you were doing? Did you intentionally do it? Have you done it before? Was there any compassion for the victim? Would you do it again? Are you lying? Based on the answers to these questions, the guilty party may be able to negotiate for a lighter sentence or receive no sentence at all.
21Then came to Peter to him, and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? 22Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. 23Therefore is the kingdom of heaven similar to a certain king, which would take account of his servants. 24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
25But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. 26The servant, therefore, fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. 27Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
28But the same servant went out and found one of his fellow servants, which owed him a hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. 29And his fellow servant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
30And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. 31So when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. 32Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desires me:
33Should, not thou also have had compassion on thy fellow-servant, even as I had pity on thee? 34And his lord was angry, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. 35So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if you from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation
John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit.
