How To Pray in Spirit and Truth – When you Pray for Change Allow Your Prayer to Change You. (KJV)
Matthew 6:33 KJV “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Believers of Jesus Christ communicate with God by praying in Jesus Christ’s name. Jesus Christ paid the price on the cross, so we can pray and talk to God wherever we are without making animal sacrifices for forgiveness of our sins or traveling to a location. However, we are to go to church (assembly) to pray and show praise in the Lord’s house. It’s his house. He will be there.
Would you visit someone at their house, but with an invitation, they had a problem coming to your house?
Would you want to hear from someone that called you for help or with empty conversations with no sign of an intentional relationship? Don’t pray begging prayers. Pray to develop a relationship with God, pray with praise in spirit and truth.
If you think God is not listening to you for any reason, go to an elderly person in the Lord and ask them to pray for you and with you. God directed some people in the bible to do that. James 5:13- 15 KJV 13Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Below, I have listed 8 steps to praying in faith, truth, and spirit. Afterward, are prayers from the bible, and an invitation to salvation.

Below are eight steps to guide you in praying in spirit and truth. In addition, a praise song from the bible and the Lord’s Prayer. The Lord’s Prayer is the prayer Jesus taught the disciples to pray.
1. Go into a quiet place, get on your knees, and pray. Praying on your knees is submission to God. Pray with confidence. Believe that God is able and on your side. . We believe that God is able and that there are no limits to his powers. We believe that he wants to help us. We do not pray from a place of lack instead claiming the promises of God by repeating scripture. God’s words are true. His words do not return to him void. It is written. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Matthew 6:6 “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”
Romans 14:11 :11For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
Hebrews 4:22 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Romans 12:2 King James Version (KJV) 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Phillippians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God. 7.And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
2. Address God by name. Know who you are praying to. There are many idols that are called God.
Pray to the Father in Jesus Christ’s name or Pray to Jesus Christ in Jesus Christ’s name. These are the only names that are mentioned in the bible by Jesus Christ that you should pray to or make your request known. If you are not saved, see an invitation below. Do not live another day without GRACE.
Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other names under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
John 14:13-16 13And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it. 15If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16And I will pray to the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever;

3. Declare your faith and relationship to God. Never pray from a place of lack but with fear, gratitude, thanksgiving and respect. Declare you are a child of God and you do not lack any good thing. Believe God is able to answer your prayer and he will. Remember, his timing may not be your timing. God is aware of timing and he works outside of time. He is never late. He controls time.
9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.
Psalm 23: 1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Mark 11:24 Therefore, I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
4. A believer should ask the Holy Spirit to lead him or her in prayer and ask him to make an intercessory prayer. The Holy Spirit is the worshipper of god and knows all things. The Holy Spirit petitions God for the believer. This is praying in truth and the spirit. Pray on your knees, if that is not possible lie down on your stomach facing the floor.
John 14: 17 Even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him but ye know him, for he dwelleth with you and shall be in you.
Romans 8: 26-28 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
5. Release all bad feelings, unforgiveness, or bad attitudes that you may have against anyone. Pray for your enemies.
God commands that we love each other as we love ourselves. We are to forgive others so God will forgive us. You can’t have hate in your heart and think God is walking with you. God is love and truth. God sits high and knows what is in the dark and what is in the light.
Matthew 5:44 KJV “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;” Matthew 6:15 KJV “But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
Matthew 5:23 Therefore, if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; 24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. King James Version (KJV)Matthew 6:14 “For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: ”Luke 6:37 “Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:”
6. Repent your sins. This is praying in truth. We repent our sins to agree with God on matters where we are wrong, so that He may give us the grace to do better and forgive our sins. Each day is more time and grace to get it right.
If you say you do not sin then Jesus Christ says you are a liar. Remember, to come in spirit and truth. We grow in our relationships and you cannot do that if you do not hold yourself accountable. 1John1:8:10 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. Luke 13:3 “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. ”Romans 10:13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Matt 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
7. Enter into his presence with praise and pray often. More than once a day. Think about it, nobody wants anyone to come to them with their hand out without friendship and fellowship. 1Thessalonians 5:17-18 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Make a joyful noise unto the LORD all ye lands
2Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing
3.Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us; and not we ourselves; we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.
4.Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him and bless his name
5. or the LORD is good: his mercy is everlasting, and his truth endureth to all generations.
8. When we pray, repeat scripture or prayers from the bible. It is good to pray the prayers in the bible out loud because the words are anointed.
Isaiah 55: 11 So shall my words be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void but it shall accomplish that which I please,, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
In conclusion, The disciples asked Jesus how to pray and he gave them The Lord’s Prayer. The prayer acknowledges worship, trust, repentance, and submission. It is noted that it did not end with “In the name of Jesus”. The sacrifice had not been given. In addition, Jesus was with them. He provided for them and interceded in prayer for them.
The more you pray to God in spirit and truth (holy Spirit) with faith that he is able, your prayers will change you because the Holy Spirit will be able to convict your spirit of God’s will. Gradually, you will be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
In the book of Acts, It wasn’t until Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and then rose again did the disciples receive the Holy Spirit – the completed work on the cross. Then the disciples prayed in Jesus Christ’s name. (Book of Acts). The Holy Spirit gave them power and spiritual gifts to go forth and start churches in many places preaching the gospel. God hears ALL prayers that come from sincerity, love, holy spirit, and truth in Jesus Christ’s name. Romans 10:13 KJV “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Matthew 6:9-13 King James Version (KJV)
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. (Some versions use the transgressions)
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. (In Jesus Christ’s name we pray).

Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
