Daily Word: The Mind is a Garden: What Are You Fertilizing It With?

Imagine your mind as a garden. What are you planting and nurturing in it? If we fill our minds with good things, like the Word of God, we will grow strong and healthy thoughts. But if we fill it with foolishness, our minds can become like a garden full of weeds. Let’s look at scriptures that show the importance of feeding our minds with the Word of God. Next we will review action steps to take to help you fertilize your mind with the right things.

Sound Doctrine

In 2 Timothy 3:16 KJV, it says, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” This means the Bible helps us learn what is right, corrects us when we’re wrong, and guides us to live in a way that pleases God. Reading the Bible regularly helps our minds grow healthy and strong.

Guard Your Heart and Mind

Proverbs 4:23 KJV tells us, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” This scripture reminds us to be careful about what we let into our hearts and minds. Just like a gardener protects their garden from pests, we must protect our minds from harmful thoughts and focus on what is good and true.

Proverbs 16:3 KJV  “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”

Transform Your Mind

Romans 12:2 KJV  says, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” This means we should not follow the bad things of this world but let God’s Word change the way we think. This helps us understand God’s perfect plan for our lives.

Philippians 4:8  KJV  “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

What are some things that you do to keep a positive mind?

Call to salvation:

John 3:16  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit.
