Matthew 6:6 KJV  But thou, when thou pray, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which see in secret shall reward thee openly.

God gives us the gift of free will, meaning we must choose to seek His help and guidance through prayer. We need to put in the request for change because we are constantly in spiritual warfare against Satan, who opposes God and all that is good. Satan does not want peace or for believers to reach their God-given goals.

This is why we must pray without ceasing. Jesus taught us that prayer is essential to staying connected with God. We need to pray for ourselves, for others, and in every situation, trusting that God hears and responds. Through prayer, we invite God into our lives, showing that we rely on Him.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gift of prayer and for always hearing us.

Please strengthen our desire to pray and help us grow closer to You every day.

Increase our faith, Lord, so that we trust in Your power and plan, even when we don’t understand.

Guide us to pray for others, showing love and compassion as You have shown us.

As Your Word says, “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV), may we always seek You in every situation.

In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

How Jesus Showed the Importance of Prayer

  • Jesus prayed early in the morning: In Mark 1:35 (KJV), “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” This shows the importance of starting our day with God.
  • Jesus prayed before big decisions: Before choosing His twelve disciples, Jesus spent the night in prayer. He sought God’s wisdom (Luke 6:12-13 KJV) And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God
  • Jesus prayed in times of need: In Matthew 26:39 (KJV), Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane before His crucifixion, asking God for strength. Matthew 26:39 KJV“ And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

Three Action Steps for a Strong Prayer Life

  • Set a daily time for prayer: Start with a few minutes each morning and evening on your knees. Asking the Holy Spirit to lead you in prayer and repentance. Consistency helps develop a strong relationship with God.
  • Pray for others: Include prayers for family, friends, and even those you don’t know. Pray for their salvation, repentance, health, sound mind, peace, faith, wisdom, knowledge, obedience and for God to meet them at their point of need.
  • Pray in all situations: Whether it’s a good day or a hard day, bring everything to God. He wants to hear about every part of your life.  Always thank God with sincere Gratitude for the good he has done in your life.

What Should We Pray For?

  • Intercessory prayers: Pray for others who need God’s help in Jesus name. Always “if it is his will”.
  • Wisdom for our leaders: Ask God to guide leaders in government, church, and the community.
  • Salvation for others: Pray for friends and family to know Christ’s
  • Stability in finances and health: Ask for God’s provision and healing.
  • Forgiveness and repentance: Pray for a forgiving heart and the courage to ask for forgiveness.
  • Protection and peace: Pray for peace in war-torn countries and wisdom for leaders worldwide.
  • Pray for children, widows, head of households, seniors, disabled and veterans that fought for this country to have religious freedom.
  • Pray for other races and believers: Ask God to bring unity and love among all people.

CALL TO SALVATION:

John 3:16  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit.
