ePrayer Room: “Finding Peace Amidst Fear: How to Overcome Anxiety in Troubling Times”
Luke 21:26-28 (KJV) says, “Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads, for your redemption draws near.”
Fear, worry, and anxiety are powerful emotions. They can affect our minds and bodies in many ways. When we hear about wars, economic crises, or other scary events, it is natural to feel anxious. However, constant fear and worry can hurt us.
First, let’s talk about the mind. When we worry too much, our brains can get tired. This makes it hard to think clearly. We might feel confused or find it hard to make decisions. Fear and anxiety can also make us feel sad or hopeless. These feelings can stop us from enjoying life and spending time with loved ones.
Now, let’s look at the body. Fear and anxiety cause our bodies to release stress hormones like adrenaline. These hormones prepare us to fight or run away from danger. But if we feel stressed all the time, these hormones can hurt our health. They can make our hearts beat too fast, raise our blood pressure, and even make us feel sick to our stomachs. Over time, this stress can lead to serious health problems, like heart disease.
In the Bible, Jesus tells us not to let fear control us. He says to “look up, and lift up your heads” because our redemption is near. This means that even when things seem scary, we should trust in God. He is always with us and will help us through hard times.
To fight fear and anxiety, it is important to pray and read the Bible. Talking to God can help us feel calm and safe. We can also talk to friends, family, or a pastor when we feel worried. Exercise and healthy eating can also help our bodies feel better.
Remember, God does not want us to live in fear. He wants us to trust Him and feel His peace. When we do this, we can face any challenge with hope and strength.

John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
