ePrayer Room: Don’t Throw Out the Baby with the Bath Water
John 15:4 KJV “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.”
In our busy lives, we often hear the saying, “Don’t throw out the baby with the bath water.” This means we shouldn’t get rid of something valuable while trying to clean up a mess. This lesson can also be found in the Bible. In John 15:4 (KJV), Jesus says, “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.” This verse reminds us to stay close to Jesus, no matter what happens in our lives.
Sometimes, people trade their relationship with Jesus for money, love relationships, and fame. But Jesus is worth more than all the silver and gold in the world. In Matthew 16:26 (KJV), Jesus asks, “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” This means that nothing in this world is worth losing our connection with Jesus.
Another supporting scripture is Proverbs 8:11 (KJV), which says, “For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.” Wisdom from God, which comes from knowing Jesus, is more valuable than any material thing. We must love God more than anything else and love each other more than ourselves.
In our daily lives, we should always pray for others and cover them in love. We pray for others so they may be strong in the faith and not trade Jesus for worldly things. Temporary things are nothing compared to eternity. Ephesians 6:18 (KJV) encourages us to, “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.” This means we should pray for everyone, lifting them up and supporting them in their needs.
When facing temptations, God is always there to help us. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV) tells us, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” This verse reassures us that God understands our struggles and provides us with the strength and a way to overcome temptations.
To sum it up, we must not throw away our precious relationship with Jesus for temporary things. Jesus is the vine, and we are the branches. We need Him to live fruitful lives. Love God above all else, and love each other deeply. Pray for others and cover them in love. Remember, Jesus is worth more than anything in this world.
Hebrews 13:5 (KJV): “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” This verse reassures us of Jesus’ constant presence and faithfulness in our lives.
Reflective Question: How can you prioritize your relationship with Jesus over temporary worldly things in your daily life?

Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
