The Gospel consists of the four books in the New Testament that gives the teachings of Jesus Christ, written by John, Luke, Mark, and Matthew. Apostle Luke, a Gentile and a physician, wrote this Gospel and the Book of Acts. Luke’s work is assumed to be written in AD 60-62 during the time disciple Paul was in jail.
His works were dedicated to Theophilus, a Roman dignitary. Luke gives an ordered account of the events of Jesus’s life but not necessarily in order. His primary research was eyewitnesses, disciples, and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Luke gives many accounts of Jesus’s healing ministry because Luke was a physician himself.
Chapter Five: Overview of Chapter Five – Jesus stood by the lake of Gennesaret and saw two ships. The fishermen were washing their nets. He entered Simon’s Peter’s ship. Simon, John, and James were master fisherman. However, they had been fishing all night and day and were not able to catch any fish. Jesus told them, “launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught”.
Simon Peter was with doubt as he was not able to catch fish himself but did as he was told. Fish jumped into the nets and a second boat was called to carry the fish because there were so many fish that one boat could not hold them all. They were amazed and believed in Jesus. He told them that he would make them fishermen of men. They left everything to follow him.
A great feast in his own house, there were publicans and of others that sat down with them. But the scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples that they eat and drink with such people. Jesus answered, “I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance”. Then they asked, “why do the disciples of John and the Pharisees fast often and make prayers but yours eat and drink?”
Jesus answered, Do the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? Then Jesus spoke in parables to demonstrate examples of his teachings. Note: In meaning, Jesus was with his disciples with the Holy Spirit and all power but when he leaves them they will need to fast often and make prayers as do the disciples of John.
Chapter Six : Overview of Chapter Six. On the second Sabbath, Jesus and the disciples walked through a cornfield. The disciples were hungry and plucked ears of corn to eat. They did eat. The Pharisees said unto them that picking corn on the Sabbath was unlawful. Jesus answered them that the Son of Man is Lord also of the Sabbath. Also on the Sabbath, Jesus entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered. Jesus healed him. The scribes and Pharisees watched and were against Jesus as healing is considered work not to be done on the Sabbath. Jesus declares that “it is lawful on the Sabbath days to do good and to save life and not destroy it”.
He taught them how to discern good people from bad. A good tree brings not forth corrupt fruit; neither does a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever hears Jesus and does his sayings, that person’s foundation is built on a rock and the storm shall not bring it down. He who does hear but does not what Jesus says, that person’s foundation is built on the earth and storms will bring it to ruins.

CALL TO SALVATION:
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit. (Get Baptized)
