Daily Word: Unlocking Wisdom: How Believing in Your Experiences Leads to Better Decisions

Life is full of choices, and making good decisions can sometimes be tough. One way to make better choices is to believe in your experiences. Our experiences shape us and help us learn about the world. By trusting these experiences, we can make decisions that are wise and helpful.

Bible Story: King Solomon’s Wisdom

A great example of believing in experiences is the story of King Solomon. God gave Solomon wisdom, and he used it to make good decisions for his people. One day, two women came to him, both claiming to be the mother of a baby.

Solomon’s experience taught him that sometimes people are not honest. So, he suggested cutting the baby in half and giving each woman a part. The real mother quickly said to give the baby to the other woman, showing her love.

Solomon then knew who the real mother was. This story shows how Solomon believed in his experiences to make a wise decision.

Scriptures to Guide You

  • Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV): “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”  Trusting God and our experiences can help us make good decisions.
  • James 1:5 (KJV): “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”  God provides wisdom when we ask for it, guiding us through our experiences.
  • Proverbs 16:9 (KJV): “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.”  Our experiences can guide our steps when we trust the Lord.

Real-World Example: Learning from Mistakes

Imagine someone who tried a new recipe and accidentally added too much salt. The dish tasted bad, but they learned to be more careful next time. This experience helps them make better choices in the future. They now know to double-check the recipe, showing how experiences guide good decisions.

Making Decisions

When faced with a decision, think about what you’ve learned in the past. Remember the lessons from both successes and mistakes. Pray and ask God for wisdom, just like Solomon did. Trust that your experiences are valuable and can help you make choices that honor God and benefit others.
