IF YOU COULD KNOW.

I THINK if you could know,

O soul that complains,

What lies are concealed

In needless burdens and pain;

I THINK if you could know,

How much our anguish brings

Desires for corruptible things.

You would not complain.

I think if you could see,

With your dim mortal sight,

To walk by faith and not by sight

You could avoid trouble hiding in plain sight.

Truth’s efforts are crossed and vexed,

Life’s purpose all perplexed,

If you could see through the lies

You would be able to break demonic strong ties.

And yet you can not know,

And yet you can not see;

Wisdom and insight are not shown,

When we do not put faith in God alone.

If you can just trust, poor soul,

In Him who rules the world with his hand.

Your soul would find peace and rest:

You could know believing in Jesus is best.
