Buyer Beware: Theft in Our Modern World
In today’s world, theft seems to be everywhere, and it’s getting worse. Did you know that a school employee stole $1.5 million in chicken wings during the COVID-19 pandemic? This shocking theft put the school $300,000 over budget halfway through the year.
It’s not just schools facing problems. Companies are not honoring their warranties, leaving customers without the help they were promised. Seniors are facing even bigger challenges. Some are victims of identity theft, losing their savings and even their car insurance. Many end up living in vans and cars because of these crimes.
This rise in theft is a sign of the times we are living in. It reminds us of the end-time prophecy from the Bible. The book of 2 Timothy 3:1-2 (KJV) warns us, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy.” These words tell us that people will become more selfish and greedy, leading to acts of theft and dishonesty.
The Bible also teaches us that stealing is a sin. In Exodus 20:15 (KJV), one of the Ten Commandments says, “Thou shalt not steal.” This commandment reminds us that taking what is not ours is wrong.
In Proverbs 10:2 (KJV), it says, “Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.” This means that even if someone gains wealth by stealing, it won’t bring true happiness or success.
For those who have stolen, there is hope. The Bible calls us to repent and turn away from sin. In 1 John 1:9 (KJV), we read, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” This verse reminds us that God is ready to forgive those who are truly sorry and willing to change their ways.
Today, “Buyer Beware” is more important than ever. We must be careful and protect ourselves from theft and dishonesty. By staying informed and following God’s teachings, we can navigate these challenging times with wisdom and integrity.
Remember, true happiness comes from living a life of honesty and faith, not from the temporary gains of theft.
Reflective Question: How can recognizing our mistakes and seeking forgiveness through repentance transform our lives and bring us closer to God?

Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation
John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit.
