Daily Word: Broken Branches, Mending Roots (Relationships, Family)
Scripture: “So if you are offering your gift on the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. Go and be reconciled to your brother or sister first, and then come and offer your gift.” (Matthew 5:23-24).

Cain and Abel: A Story of Betrayal and Brotherhood
The story of Cain and Abel is found in the book of Genesis, the first book of the Bible. It tells the story of the two sons of Adam and Eve, the first humans. Cain was the elder brother, and Abel was the younger.
Cain was a farmer, while Abel was a shepherd. One day, both brothers brought offerings to God. Cain brought some of the fruit of the ground, while Abel brought the choicest lamb from his flock. God favored Abel’s offering, and this made Cain angry and jealous.
A Jealous Rage
Cain’s jealousy festered, and he eventually lured Abel out to the field and killed him. This is the first recorded murder in the Bible.
After the murder, God confronted Cain and asked him where Abel was. Cain lied and said that he did not know, but God knew the truth. God punished Cain by sending him away from the land where he and his family had lived.
Themes of the Story
The story of Cain and Abel is a cautionary tale about the dangers of jealousy and anger. It also highlights the importance of forgiveness and reconciliation.

- Jealousy: Cain’s jealousy of Abel led him to commit murder, showing the destructive power of this emotion.
- Murder: The story of Cain and Abel is the first recorded murder in the Bible, and it raises important questions about the nature of good and evil.

CALL TO SALVATION:
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit. (Get Baptized)
