Break Up With Your Past! Find a Safe Place With Safe People. Recommit to Attending CHURCH on the Regular. A Checklist to Help You Select a Church Home

Matthew 21:13 KJV  “And (Jesus) said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer;”

The pandemic closed the churches for a while for safety of the church’s members.  Now, people are going back to church and enjoying reconnecting in faith with others. People are receiving communion, baptisms, as well as the covering, mercies and many benefits of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I want to encourage you to take the time to find and commit to a church home for you and your family. If you have one, please attend every Sunday.  Believers are to step up the praise team efforts.

Hebrews 10:  23-24KJV  23Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Ephesians 2: 4-9 KJV 4But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

7That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast.

In addition, believers are commanded by God to receive communion (eating of the bread and drinking of the wine – last supper)  as a remembrance of the work on the cross that brought the forgiveness of sins.  Communion should be done as a spiritual body (church family) as well as having communion in private with family and love ones.

In church, you will connect in faith with your sisters and brothers in Christ.  The Lord states in the bible that the church (congregation) is his bride. When he returns, he is taking up his church.  I know some churches (congregations), leaders, and members are not doing the right thing. That is why you must pray and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to a church that is within his favor and grace. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you meet your extended family that will be a support system for you and encourage you in the Lord.

Ephesians 5: 25-27KJV   25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Note: The “washing of water by the word” – baptism washes each member with water and cleanses them spiritually by the power of the word of God  ” It is written”.

Matthew 28:19 KJV  “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Matthew 26-27 KJV  26And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. 27And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 28For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Make a list of things that are important to you.  Read reviews, websites, and look at pictures. Most importantly, review on demand services.  Never before have you been able to choose a church right from home like you can today. Below is a checklist to get you started.  It is not an all inclusive list, feel free to add your own items.  All of these questions can be answered with research on line for each church you are considering. How many times you attend a church before joining is up to you.

  • What is the church’s denomination?
  • What is the church’s statement of belief?
  • Who is the Pastor?  How long has he or she been a pastor?  Is his or her bio available on LinkedIn or social media channels, if not on the  church’s website?
  • Are the sermons very important because you do not know the bible as you should?  Does the pastor know the bible well?
  • Do you have a need to be able to make meetings outside of church hours?  Do you share transportation.

Therefore, distance, public transportation or church bus service may be important.

  • Is the culture of the church important?
  • Does the size of the church matter?
  • What are the hours of the church?
  • Is it important to you that your pastor is married or not?
  • Are services offered on other days or time?

Do you need to attend services on other days other than Sunday because of a dialysis, work or transportation schedule?

  • Does the church conduct biblical rituals, teachings, and celebrations of Christian religious holidays?

Conduct Communion?  Baptism?  Bible Study? Celebrate Easter and Christmas?

  • Is a great choir with music important to you or not?
  • Is the service conducted in a lighted and clean room?

Call to salvation:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit.
