Overview of The Gospel of Luke:
Apostle Luke, a Gentile and a physician, wrote this Gospel and the Book of Acts. Luke’s work is assumed to be written in AD 60-62 during the time Paul was in jail. His works were dedicated to Theophilus, a Roman dignitary. Luke gives an ordered account of the events of Jesus’s life but not necessarily in order. His primary research is based on eyewitnesses, disciples, and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
Luke knew the disciples personally. He traveled with Paul most of the time. However, he also used other disciples’ work in his research, such as Mark’s work. A lot of Luke’s work included the Gospel of Mark. However, this Gospel gives many accounts of Jesus’s healing ministry because Luke was a physician himself.
Luke alone reported unusual circumstances surrounding the birth of John the Baptist and the annunciation to Mary. He emphasized the central role of women, children, Gentiles, Samaritans, rich people, sinners, and outcasts in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Luke proposed to narrate the ministry of Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ’s mission dedicated to the saving of sinners and his progression to the cross to become Savior of the World.

45 Days to Read the Gospel Challenge. The Gospel According To Luke Chapter 12: What’s In The Dark Will Come To The Light
Summary of The Gospel According to Luke Chapter Twelve :
In this lesson, you will explore the teachings of Jesus on topics such as hypocrisy, fear, trust, and preparedness. Luke Chapter 12 highlights the importance of living with integrity, being vigilant in our faith, and trusting in God’s provision rather than material wealth. You will also learn about Jesus’ warnings to avoid hypocrisy, fearlessly proclaim the truth, and be prepared for His return.
As Jesus addressed a large crowd, He warned His disciples about the hypocrisy of the Pharisees, saying, “For there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed” (Luke 12:2-5 KJV). He urged them to fear God, who has the power over eternal life, and to confess Him before others, promising that those who do so will be acknowledged before the angels.
Jesus taught that material wealth should not be our focus, reminding the crowd to trust in God’s provision. He said, “Consider the lilies, how they grow… If God so clothes the grass… how much more will He clothe you?” (Luke 12:27-29 KJV). Instead of worrying, they should seek the Kingdom of God, and all their needs would be met (Luke 12:31-34 KJV).
Jesus urged His followers to always be watchful and ready, comparing them to servants waiting for their master’s return. Those who are faithful in managing God’s blessings will be rewarded, but those who neglect their responsibilities will face consequences (Luke 12:40-48 KJV).
He also explained that His message would bring division, even within families, as individuals must choose between following Him or clinging to worldly ties (Luke 12:51-53 KJV). Finally, Jesus emphasized the need to settle disputes before they escalate and warned of the consequences of ignoring God’s will, saying, “You will not be released until you have paid the last mite” (Luke 12:59).
In this chapter, Jesus teaches the importance of repentance, trust in God’s provision, vigilance, and being good stewards of what God has entrusted to us.

Reflection
Do you ever wonder about people who don’t value truth or seem to ignore right and wrong—and yet appear to get away with it? Jesus assures us that everything hidden in darkness will eventually come to light, including gossip and deceit. Are you familiar with the saying, “You reap what you sow” or “What goes around comes around”? While Jesus paid the price for our sins so we can be forgiven and go to heaven, many sins still lead to consequences in this life. What are your thoughts?

Highlights
Chapter Highlights of Gospel According to Luke – Chapter Twelve KJV) Answers to Objectives and Activity-Questions
A. What is meant by What’s in the dark will come into the light? Luke 12: 11-6 KJV
1In the meantime, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples, first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
2For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.
3Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light, and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.
4And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
5But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
6Are, not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? 7But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
B. The unforgivable sin. Luke 12: 8-9 KJV
8Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
9But he that deny me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
10And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blaspheme against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
C. Why we should store our treasures in heaven and not worry about worldly things. Luke 12: 12-28 KJV
17And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
18And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater, and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
19And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast many goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
21So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
22And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
23The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
24Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
25And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
26If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?
27Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
28If then God so clothe the grass, which is today in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
D. Why Jesus coming will divide people and families. Luke 12:51-53, Matthew 10: 34-38 KJV
51Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
52For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
53The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Note: this passage clears up the meaning of Jesus’ statement about dividing people. Matthew 10 34-38 34Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. 37He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38And he that taketh not his cross, and follow after me is not worthy of me. 39He that finds his life shall lose it: and he that loses his life for my sake shall find it.
E. What signs of the times are to be regarded. Luke 12:54-59 KJV
54And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is.
55And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass.
56Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?
57Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?
58When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hales thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.
59I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite.
