Step One.  Start in the order of: the Gospel of John, Luke, Mark and Matthew for understanding.

The instructions are designed for accessibility and ensures the learner is not overwhelmed and confused. Post your questions in the comment section and the author will answer you. Please share your experiences and opinions.

Step Two.  Each lesson takes about 35 minutes to complete: 20 min to study the lesson and take the quiz. 15 minutes to read the Bible resource

It is recommended to read the entire post and then take the quiz before reading or listening to the bible resources. Each lesson is self-contained and includes all resources needed.

Step 3:  You should complete two lessons a day.  5 Days a week in order to complete the “45 Days to Read The Gospel Challenge in 45 days”.

There is no law that says you have to complete these lessons in 45 days. You are free to work at your own pace. Study the lesson and take the quiz in the morning, and later listen to or read the bible resources.

Step 4: Get organize with pen and paper.  Take notes.  Each lesson contains: Header Sections (Table of Contents): (1) chapter summary, (2) objectives, (3) outline, (4) reflection question,  (5) chapter highlights, (6) resources, (7) interactive quiz, and (8) a call to salvation.

Overview of The Gospel of Luke 

Apostle Luke, a Gentile and a physician, wrote this Gospel and the Book of Acts.  Luke’s work is assumed to be written in AD 60-62 during the time disciple Paul was in jail.  His works were dedicated to Theophilus, a Roman dignitary.  Luke gives an ordered account of the events of Jesus’s life but not necessarily in order.  His primary research was eyewitnesses, disciples, and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Luke knew the disciples personally.  He traveled with Paul most of the time. However, he also used other disciples’ work in his research, such as Mark, as a lot of his work included the Gospel of Mark. However, this Gospel gives many accounts of Jesus’s healing ministry because Luke was a physician himself.

Luke alone reported unusual circumstances surrounding the birth of John the Baptist and the annunciation of Mary.  He emphasized the central role of women, children, Gentiles, Samaritans, rich, sinners, and outcasts in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Luke proposed to narrate the ministry of Jesus Christ: Jesus Christ’s mission dedicated to the saving of sinners and his progression to the cross to become Savior of the World.

Summary of The Gospel According to Luke Chapter Eleven: How To Pray

This course, based on Luke Chapter 11, will guide you through the lessons Jesus taught about prayer, forgiveness, and resisting evil. Through Jesus’ words, we’ll explore the power of trusting God, understanding His timing, and standing firm in faith. You’ll also learn about the importance of a sincere heart over outward appearances.

In Luke 11:1  KJV, one of Jesus’ disciples asked Him, “Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1 KJV). Jesus responded with what we know as the Lord’s Prayer, teaching us to honor God, ask for our daily needs, forgive others, and seek protection from evil. He also promised in John 14:13 (KJV), “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son,” reminding us that God answers prayers made in faith.

This chapter also describes Jesus casting out demons and teaching that anyone not with Him is against Him. He warned that when we remove evil from our lives, we need to stay close to Him; otherwise, worse things could return. Jesus challenged the Pharisees, calling out their focus on outward appearances while their hearts remained corrupt.

A. Jesus teaches the disciples to pray the Lord’s Prayer  Luke 11: 1-4 KJV  This prayer is according to The Gospel of Luke. A different version is in The Gospel of Matthew. See summary above. 

¹And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. 

²And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

³Give us day by day our daily bread.

⁴And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive everyone that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. 

 ⁵And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;

B. Jesus declares and explains that believers can ask and shall receive: First, love God and obey his commandments and ask within the will of God. Luke 11:9-13 KJV

 ⁹And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 

¹⁰For every one that ask receive; and he that seek find it, and to him that knock it shall be opened.

¹¹If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 

¹²Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 

¹³If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

¹⁵But some of them said, He cast out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils.

 ¹⁶And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.

 ¹⁷But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falls.

 ¹⁸If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.  

¹⁹And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.

 ²⁰But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you. 

²¹When a strong man armed keeps his palace, his goods are in peace:

 ²²But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armor wherein he trusted, and divided his spoils.
